South Florida Interfaith Worker Justice (SFIWJ) was formed in 1998, comprised of
clergy, lay leaders, and labor union representation.  Our active supporters span
Miami-Dade and Broward counties, and include clergy and lay leaders, congregants,
congregations, and judicatories.  The SFIWJ is currently one of sixty-five affiliates in
the national Interfaith Worker Justice network, which was founded in 1991.

The SFIWJ began with a vision of the “faith community serving as a prophetic voice
and spiritual advocate that is aware of the plight of workers, especially low-wage
workers, and those victimized by social injustice.”

We educate and involve our communities in the support of workers’ rights and
promoting access to fair employment.  The SFIWJ also supports a worker’s
entitlement to collectively organize in the workplace as a means to self-sufficiency.
