| During the final day of the Summit those present participated in a rally supporting the Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA) which took place outside of Senator Mary Landrieu's office. |

| Beginning Monday June 29, SFIWJ has been actively involved in supporting the families living in the Redland Labor Center. These families are fighting to keep the camp's school open. The school operates pre-K, after school, and summer programs in five trailers (all free of charge). The school board's lease for the land and contract ended on June 30, 2009, and Director of the Homestead Housing Authority, Edmund Carrera, has refused to sign the contract. The families of the Redland Center are also attempting to work with Homestead city officials to get this issue resolved.
