South Florida Interfaith Worker Justice (SFIWJ) works and advocates for several key issues impacting workers in our community. One core issue that many often overlook is the issue of wage theft, which is far too prevalent in particular workplaces. As a part of the Wage Theft Task Force, SFIWJ has been heavily involved in creating and improving local wage theft ordinances as well as in a state-wide legislative process to protect workers from becoming victims of wage theft. SFIWJ is also a founding member of the South Florida Council for Occupational Safety and Health (COSH) and partners with the Farmworker Association of Florida - Homestead office to promote safe and healthy work environments where workers do not have to fear retaliations, injuries, and fatalities. In addition, SFIWJ recognizes that comprehensive immigration reform is crucial for many workers and their families and supports local and national partners and their works towards fair and compassionate comprehensive immigration reform.
